The Brand:

Classic Bahnstormers is a BMW specialist that sells, services and restores classic BMWs from the 1970s to the 1990s.

The Goal:

After purchasing a collection of 1980s BMW E28 5 Series ‘barn finds’ that had been left undiscovered for many years, Classic Bahnstormers wanted to use this acquisition to raise the awareness of their company. The classic BMW specialist also needed to quickly convert this stock into cash, with Supercharged Media tasked with finding customers to purchase the BMWs and restore them at Classic Bahnstormers.

The Strategy:

The first task was writing the barn-find story in a compelling press release paired with captivating images. The press release was distributed to the automotive media, classic car media, and key journalists that we knew had a liking for old BMWs.

Using Facebook's Ads Manager, Supercharged Media built up a number of customer profiles targeting individuals who engage with Classic BMW and BMW content. This pinpoint targeting was complemented by a highly viral photo of the old BMWs sat gathering dust in a barn - the perfect asset to ensure social media users stop scrolling down their newsfeed and took notice of our offer.

The Results:

Supercharged Media utilised its contacts in the classic car media to secure news coverage in over a dozen automotive news outlets, including Car & Classic and Practical Classics magazine. Through a combination of media relations, social media content and ads Supercharged Media successfully sold all nine BMWs, two of which went on to have five-figure restoration budgets for the team at Classic Bahnstormers to work on.

Supercharged Media still works with Classic Bahnstormers to this day, having grown their social media audience to over 33,000 followers across Facebook and Instagram since late 2019. Besides being its main source of car sales, this highly-engaged social media audience has provided a consistent stream of enquiries for service and restoration work. With the BMW specialist currently operating a 6-month lead time for service work, and 12-month lead time for restoration work.
